A 24-year-old rider received advanced life support intervention after she was thrown from her horse on a farm in Hillcrest yesterday afternoon.
Due to the location of incident and the road conditions, paramedics decided to have the patient airlifted from the scene.
The Red Cross Air Mercy helicopter transported the patient to Life Entabeni Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
It is believed that the patient was practising her show jumping when the horse threw her from the saddle. She said she landed hard on the ground, causing concern about the pains in her neck and back.
