- A Zulu Dance competition will be held at Curries Fountain (east of Durban Botanic Gardens) starting at 9am. Traditional Zulu dance enthusiasts from all parts of KwaZulu Natal will be taking part in this highly-competitive annual event. Entrance is free!
- Visit the Kwa Muhle Museum for a trip back in time to the foundations of Durban’s development and its role players. Situated at 130 Bram Fisher (Ordnance) Road, Durban Central, it is open to the public between 11.30am and 4pm and entrance is free!
- Take a road-trip out to Howick to view the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Situated about five kilometres northwest of Howick the site is well signposted and is open from 9am to 4pm daily.

- Act like a tourist and book a three-hour City Tour aboard the Durban Ricksha Bus. Highlights include Victoria Street Market, the Emmanuel Cathedral, uShaka, Mitchell Park, Moses Mabhida and Suncoast Casino. Morning and afternoon tours begin and end at Durban’s beachfront at the Ricksha Bus Kiosk at the Old Pavillion Site, Bay of Plenty, North Beach.
- The Umgeni River Bird Park on Riverside Road, Durban North is a tropical paradise, situated in an old quarry site. Wander through 3.5 hectares of lush landscape and view more than 800 birds from 220 species. Catch the free-flight bird show and chill in the tea-garden.
- Did you know Durban has some cool waterfalls? One is situated deep inside the Paradise Valley Nature Reserve in Pinetown. This magical spot lies below the hubbub of the Paradise Valley viaduct which connects the M13 and N3 highways. A variety of flora and fauna (including antelope and mongoose) can be spotted and there are graded trails, picnic and braai sites on the banks of the Umbilo River which runs through this hidden gem.
