Police continue to search for a French couple involved in a shooting incident in the Sutherland area of the Karoo in which a police officer was killed and another wounded.
According to News24, police are looking for Philippe Pierre Meniere, 60, a qualified medical doctor who underwent military training in France. He was seen wearing glasses, brown military style pants and a shirt and Hi-Tec boots. He is about 1.82m tall and thinly built. He speaks English with a strong French accent.
The woman is Agnes Jeanne Jardel, 55, about 1.70m tall and thinly built. She has long grey hair and was also dressed in military gear.
Police believe the couple is still hiding out in the Sutherland area and is armed and dangerous. Some of the firearms in their possession include a 12-bore shotgun, a .223 rifle, a .357 pistol, two 9 mm pistols and a .22 pistol.
Bizarre
The French couple was on the run after shooting at police and the owner of the farm on which they stayed on Friday. The farmer was attempting to evict the couple and called in the police because they had become alarmed at the couple’s bizarre behaviour and stockpile of weapons.
The eviction turned into a shooting in which a police officer was killed and one wounded in the back.
It’s alleged the Frenchmen belonged to the Ramtha “end-of-days” type cult.
