The Juice Kitchen

By The Crest Magazine18/12/20142 Mins Read

After trading in a hectic legal career in the UK for a more sedate pace of life back at home in Summerveld, Tamara Scribante Ogilby was disappointed to not be able to find the vegetable juices she’d come to love in Europe.

“In London, you can grab a veggie juice on almost every corner, and I had come to appreciate the health benefits,” Tamara says.

Veggie juices are high in vitamins and minerals, providing a super boost of nutrients, as well as being cleansing and alkalising, kind to your digestive system and a fantastic source of enzymes, due to the ingredients being raw.

Initially, Tamara began juicing for herself, her husband and their three children, but got more involved when she explored the science of raw fruit and veg. She started growing her own organic vegetables, including carrots, celery, broccoli and spinach, while sourcing others, such as kale, from Matthew Berry in Camperdown. She draws organic fruit from around KZN.

“We all know how difficult it can be to get children to eat their vegetables, never mind trying to get your own five a day,” says Tamara. “Juicing is a wonderful solution and you can see benefits in just a few days.”

And so, The Juice Kitchen was born. They currently offer 30 juices, developed in conjunction with nutritional experts. Some are for an all-round boost, while others concentrate on the pharmaceutical side, such as white eyes, skin rejuvenation, blood pressure, migraine relief and a hormone balancer.

These are available to order individually or as part of a detox programme, with delivery throughout the Upper Highway. Do yourself a favour and try them today!
