In light of some uncertainty surrounding the applicability and application of the corporate governance principles found in King III in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the IoDSA prepared a ‘’Governance in SMEs guide’’ to assist SMEs with the application of corporate governance in their organisations.
The aim of the event was to:
- Launch the new Governance in SMEs Guide which had been prepared to assist SMEs with identifying the objectives of corporate governance and implementation thereof to their specific business
- Promote corporate governance in SMEs (through raising awareness of the benefit and value of implementing sound governance practices, with the intention/hope that SMEs will as a result implement such in their organisations)

08:00 – 8:20: Welcome & Brief overview of the Governance in SMEs Guide (i.e. how it was drafted and aim of the guide) by the IoDSA (Vikeshni Vandayar)
08:20 -08:30: IoDSA to introduce the speakers on the panel
8:30 – 9:30: Panel Discussion [Panellists brief view on governance in SMEs and Q&A]
9:30: Thank You (Awarding of spot prizes to delegates and gifts to Speakers]

- The key governance challenges facing SMEs
- The application of corporate governance in SMEs (Why is it important? What are the benefits? Tips on application/implementation from speakers experience)
- The tools that can help SMEs build sustainable growth (Speakers spoke about what assistance they can provide SMEs and specifically how good corporate governance in SMEs would improve the assistance which they can provide SMEs)
