The city of Durban is going to be in for a real treat when two highly admired South African acts, Johnny Clegg and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, share the stage for the first time at the Old Mutual’s Music at the Lake concert at the Durban Botanic Gardens.

Returning from his nine week tour of the USA and Canada, Johnny Clegg will be performing hits from his most recent album, Human, as well as some of his fans’ all-time favourites.
Sharing the same stage will be four-time Grammy Award-winning trailblazers, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. These music masterminds are entering into a new era as Thami Shabalala, the 38-year-old son of recently retired founder Joseph Shabalala, takes the reins as the group’s new lead singer. The 12 member ensemble now also includes this talented family’s third generation: Joseph’s 23-year-old grandson, Babuyile Shabalala.
Concert-goers will witness history when Johnny Clegg performs for an impressive 90 minutes, featuring Ladysmith Black Mambazo on three of his songs. Mambazo will stay true to their melodic harmonies for 45 minutes before Clegg joins them on stage for a duet of one of their hits.
The event will take place on Sunday, 9 November at the Durban Botanic Gardens. Tickets are available online at www.webtickets.co.za at a cost of R180. Tickets will cost R220 on the day. Kids between 8-12 pay R50, kids under 8 get in free. All children are welcome at the KidZone for fun and games.
Drinks, cooler boxes and picnic baskets are welcome. Gates open at 12h30 for pre-sale ticket orders and 13h00 for on the day sales. Ladysmith Black Mambazo will start their set at 15h00, with Johnny Clegg taking the stage at 16h00.
Secure parking is available on the Juventus ground. Entrance to all parking is off lower John Zikhale (Sydenham) Road, adjacent to the Botanic Gardens and the Munies Hockey Field, also off lower John Zikhale (Sydenham) Road.
