CBD is a cannabinoid, which is extracted from the flowers and leaves of various Sativa plants. They are grown to produce naturally high levels of CBD but contain low levels of THC (as found in medical cannabis). As CBD is oil-soluble, it is most often combined with coconut oil for optimum absorption into the body.
CBD is not psychoactive and does not produce a ‘high’ but it does have beneficial relaxing effects. CBD oil is increasingly used as a food supplement to promote general feelings of well-being, especially if you are experiencing stress, anxiety or general aches and pains.
CBD oil contains no significant levels of THC, and therefore legal to take, although it’s not advisable to use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
WHY NOT THC? THC is what gives you a buzz when you smoke a joint and people think it is the same – not so. You NEED a small amount of THC to ACTIVATE the healing properties of the CBD. Just a small percentage and the benefits are huge – it’s so small you feel zero – no high – nothing.
It’s the same as saying drinking beer will make you an alcoholic – it will if you drink 10 or 20 a day but drinking 1 or 2 with a braai makes things taste so much better.
