The recent fluctuations and fall in value of the rand against the dollar is the main cause behind the latest hike in the petrol price in South Africa.
And there’s even more pain in the tough financial climate, as school fees for 2012 are expected to leap significantly for both public and private schools. In an article headlined “2012 school fee hike inevitable: Water and lights escalate costs”, The Mercury newspaper said it was expected parents would fork out at least 10% more on school fees next year.
