Following some delicious treats, Johann, in his inimitable style, will pass on his knowledge and wisdom to enable us to become ‘Powerful, Proactive and Positive’ as we take to the roads in our beautiful country.
SARDA Durban is a non-profit and public benefit organisation run entirely by volunteers that provides therapeutic riding therapy to children from five (5) special needs school groups in the greater Durban area, as well as Khetiwe Rehabiliation Centre based at St Mary’s Hospital. There is no charge to the schools/organizations within the programme.
Through riding therapy the children are offered many benefits, such as improved balance, co-ordination, memory, motor skills, concentration and confidence. The ponies offer a new form of mobility to the children and they view life from a different outlook from within the SARDA Arena, on outrides in the immediate vicinity, in the classroom and at home.
For many children this is their only opportunity to be free of their wheelchairs. The reports back from teachers and therapists continue to reinforce the benefits of the SARDA ‘therapy in motion’ programme offered through special needs schools.
Tickets for the SARDA Durban benefit event with Johan Von Bargen cost R150 per person.
