Reach For A Dream is an organisation that fulfils the dreams of children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness.
Childhood should be a magical time, filled with dreams, aspirations and most of all… fun! One of the organisation’s initiatives is a project called Queen For A Day, where a number of girls will be treated to a day out of their hospital environment and crowned queen for a day.
Each girl is made to feel special and beautiful to ease the effect of the illnesses on their bodies and – most importantly – their self-esteem. The girls will receive uninterrupted pampering and the day ends with each little girl parading down the red carpet towards a throne where they will be crowned by a real beauty queen with a tiara and sash.
This year’s event takes place in the Highway area on 29 June at The Academy of Beauty Therapy in Hillcrest, where the girls will get manicures, have their make-up done and be dressed up in evening gowns.
After that, they will have their moment on the red carpet with Mr and Mrs KZN – Dario Campos and Lisa Smart-Campos. From there, the girls will be taken to Makaranga Garden Lodge where they will be treated to a high tea before heading home.
A big thank you to all those assisting with the event. It is sure to be a very special day for these girls, filled with happy memories.
