With the injury woes at scrumhalf (Conrad Hoffman was ruled out for the Super rugby season at the weekend), the Sharks have surprised everyone by signing French international and former Shark Freddie Michalak.
Michalak, who was very popular in his first stint for The Sharks, in which they won the Currie Cup in 2008, has played more than 50 Tests for France in a number of positions.
The versatile Michalak (28) is better known as a number 10, but has played scrumhalf for his country.
With the Sharks still to hit peak form (perhaps a good thing at this stage of the competition), Michalak’s creativity will be a welcome boost.
