A crowd of hundreds of high-spirited Durbanites pitched up to see the Queen Mary 2 super cruise liner sail out of Durban harbour yesterday (Monday) evening . . . but were left rather disappointed.
A passenger delay, apparently caused by delayed flights affecting passengers who had gone on an overland trip to Nelspruit, stalled the departure of the Queen Mary 2 from Durban harbour yesterday evening by almost two hours.
See picture gallery below
A good-natured crowd of at least a few hundred took the delay well, with many bringing out the deck chairs and beverages and settling in for a long wait. Some had pitched up at least an hour before the scheduled departure time of 6pm, but the magnificent vessel could only get under way just before 8pm.
Durban’s citizens certainly turned out in style to salute this royalty of the sea. – Ridge Correspondent

Even though my boyfriend and I waited for nearly 3 hours, it was totally worth the wait!
It was incredible!
