The Jes Foord Foundation has launched its latest initiative – the Rugby Against Rape campaign, which kicks off at Glenwood High School’s first home game of the season. The Green Machine plays Westville Boys High on 18 June 2011.
DHS has also stepped up to join the campaign, starting with their fixtures against Glenwood and Hilton High Schools.
There are many different ways for schools to raise money through the rugby matches they play – from sourcing a sponsor for every winning game to sponsors for every try scored or every successful penalty kick. Home teams can even take a collection before the games.
The money raised will be used to fund an intense ten-day Child Safety Officer Training Course. The aim is to raise R70,000 to train up to 20 people.
So, look out for teams wearing the green Rugby Against Rape arm bands and get involved!
