Friends, supporters and members of the media turned up at The Litchi Orchard in Salt Rock recently to sample some of the delicious fare on offer at the recently opened Orchard Cafe on this working litchi farm.

Entertained by musician Jarrod Plug, who played some supremely mellow jazz tunes, guests mingled while assessing all the attractions of the farm. These include the Milk and Honey interior and textile design shop run by Emily Smithers, the orchards’s array of young plants, seedlings and saplings, Beanstruk boutique coffee roastery and, of course, Orchard Cafe.

MC Clifton Smithers took the opportunity to welcome guests and explain what the farm was all about, describing the proprietors’ passion for quality local produce.

This was reiterated by Kerry Hedges of Lemon Canary, who produces all the food for Orchard Cafe, and who prepared a wonderful spread of delightful treats, quickly devoured by appreciative visitors and washed down with a beer or two or a Pinotage from the wine tasting area.
Good things in life
A relaxing evening in which some of the good things in life were savoured by members of the North Coast community.
