With sardine activity reported as far north as Virginia Beach and heading south towards Durban, the Sardine Run is really hotting up, with a high chance of some netting in Durban today.
Mike Anderson-Reade, Ops Head for the KZN Sharks Board, said that the KZN coast was very busy with sardine activity. Virginia, Amanzimtoti, Warner Beach, Ifafa, Port Shepstone and Margate were just some of the areas mentioned.
“Unfortunately, the heavy swell on the lower south coast will make netting there difficult, but you never know,” he said. “It is very spectacular with thousands of gannets and dolphins chasing the fish.”
According to the latest reports there has already been extensive netting off uShaka Beach this morning.
