Trisha Poona, who represented South Africa at the Mrs Universe pageant in Durban on Saturday was the audience favourite, receiving thunderous applause and encouragement whenever she appeared on stage.

Durban wife and mum, Trisha Poona, who represented South Africa at the glitzy Mrs Universe pageant at the city’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre on Saturday (2 September 217) says “it was a remarkable experience!”

Trish competed against more than 80 finalists from around the world and was overjoyed to be placed in the Top 25. The Mount Edgecombe fitness and image consultant was clearly the home crowd favourite. “Even if I wanted to walk like a model, with a straight face, I couldn’t. Every time they called my name the crowd erupted and I had the biggest grin from start to finish. It warmed my heart and I felt so proudly South African. Mind you not only on the night, but the support throughout the week has been amazing. The South African support has been so incredibly humbling. Thank you Durban, South Africa for making me feel like the queen of the night!”

While the Mrs Universe pageant and the week-long schedule of events that led up to it are now over, Trisha is looking forward to settling back into her family routine. “I am exhausted but also excited about what lays ahead! I am amped to go out there and continue to make an impact on the lives of women most especially young women because that’s what I am passionate about. I am so happy to be back with my family and from Monday morning was back in my routine at 5am making lunches, getting ready and doing the school the drop offs, a highlight of my day.”

While the World Finals on 2 September 2017 was definitely a highlight for Trisha, she says meeting inspiring women from around the world and forging new friendships made the entire experience an unforgettable one.
