The Sharks Academy, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at an official function at the Durban Country club, has further news to be delighted about.
With the announcement of the Springbok end of year touring squad after the Absa Currie Cup Final on Saturday, three of the four new Springboks from The Sharks are products of The Sharks Academy.
“As a result of their great form and hard work throughout the Currie Cup competition it was certainly just reward for Lwazi Mvovo, Patrick Lambie and Keegan Daniel to be selected for their first Springbok tour,” commented Sharks Academy Managing Director Hans Scriba.
“We continually aim to produce top professional players who can excel at the highest level.”
Mvovo has impressed with his speed and strength (while scoring hatfulls of tries), Daniel is a gamebreaker of note who also steals loads of ball and covers the park exceptionally well, while Lambie, as he showed in the Currie Cup final, is a matchwinner and Bok star of the future.
Over the past decade The Sharks Academy has produced 45 Sharks and 10 Springboks. – Ridge Correspondent
