The Colony Shopping Centre provides a convenient location for day-to-day shopping and essential services. Now, visitors can also enjoy the authentic Italian vibe of the new Stretta restaurant.

Stretta Café is an evolution of the popular Stretta Cucina, with the same menu and familiar faces, but in a bigger, better space, with the addition of an artisanal coffee roastery. Emil Venter, the owner or “godfather” of Stretta, has brought the best people on board to partner in the business, while allowing the current staff to further focus their efforts.
An exciting addition is self-pronounced coffee geek Craig Charity, who writes for Coffee Mag* and is a coffee-machine-technical fundi. He is launching his own artisanal brand of coffee, Lineage, exclusively at the new Stretta premises, where he will be overseeing its roasting and pouring for your ultimate coffee enjoyment.
Restaurant king Ryan Metzler joins the front of house after many years in the industry, including at Stokers, Frankie’s Hillcrest and Butcher Boys.
Both Craig and Ryan are dedicated to making sure customers get the most out of their coffee and meal experiences respectively. This allows Chef Greg Clelland to commit more time to the action in the kitchen, putting his passion into creating quality food, including wood-fired pizza and pasta.
New-look Colony
Added to this change is a new look for the centre, including improved visibility and signage along Old Main Road. The existing timber decks on that side of the property will be given contemporary roof coverings and improved landscaping features to create an inviting relaxation area.
“We are investing in this facelift to keep up with current retail trends and maintain the centre’s status as an attractive destination for tenants and customers,” says Gary Gould of Unity Properties, co-owners of The Colony. “We believe this exciting new chapter in the life of The Colony Shopping Centre will provide for an improved customer experience to this fundamental component of the Hillcrest retail precinct.”
