The Epworth Foundation

By Mums Mail Magazine17/10/20182 Mins Read

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest,” said Benjamin Franklin, former USA president, while our own Madiba echoed this sentiment, saying; ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

The Epworth Foundation’s mission is to support Epworth School as a sustainable centre of excellence, ‘uplifting our nation through quality education’ and their vision is of a South Africa where deserving talent is identified and cultivated to serve our country and its people.

Over the next decade, the foundation is resolved to augment its school’s quality education through the ‘Young Women of Worth’ bursary investment fund, which aims to support more talented and deserving ‘Young Women of Worth’ to receive Epworth’s world-class education as their “passport to power and possibility”. They are well on their way – the first two ‘Young Women of Worth’ each benefitted in 2017 from a vital year at Epworth. They further aim to invest in more wonderful, potential-filled young lives through this programme.

Ms Laura Bekker is now two years into her tenure as Head of School at Epworth. She brought with her, from her previous position as Principal of Rustenburg High School for Girls in Rondebosch, admirable leadership qualities and experience. At Epworth, they count themselves extremely fortunate to have such a versatile, warm-hearted and talented Head of School and look forward to her continued leadership as she leads Epworth into the future.

FOR 120 YEARS Epworth School has delivered a world-class, faith-based education for young hearts and minds!
