‘The Tower and The Tree’ is a delightful story about love, friendship and self-sacrifice (very pertinent for a time like this).
In a flurry of inspiration, while pondering how he could positively contribute to the current situation, Patrick Kenny felt prompted to create an audiobook from a story that he’d written a while back. And to make it freely available, as a gift, to all the parents and kids in lockdown and for all the frontline workers during this COVID-19 emergency.
Together with fellow artists and friends, Aaron and Lisa McIlroy of Macbob Productions and Alan Judd of Leopard Moon Studio, Patrick has been making lemonade from lemons, so to speak. The book is narrated by his wife, Shannon Kenny.
“With the cancellation of theatre shows, conferences and arts festivals, we’ve kept calm and carried on – and created an audiobook, ‘The Tower & The Tree’, in isolation with our families, across three different locations, despite the technical obstacles we encountered,” said Patrick and Shannon.
The story is voiced by Aaron McIlroy as Tower, Lisa Bobbert as the Mayor, Fiona McIlroy as Tree, Grace McIlroy as Rose, Kaylee McIlroy as Ms Deeds and narrated by Shannon Kenny.
