Durban personality Marion Loudon has been heating up the stage at the Hillcrest Heritage Theatre recently during her performance in Burlesque.
We chatted to this theatre queen and found what goes on behind the stage.
How did you get into showbiz?
“I have always wanted to be on stage. I took drama as a subject at school, then did a drama diploma at Natal Technikon. ”
What does ‘getting ready for a show’ involve?
“Hours of practice, especially when there is dancing involved. Practice usually starts a few weeks before the show”
Your favourite part of being on stage?
“I enjoy everything! Singing is my first love, and when dance moves are put to the songs it just makes it that much more exciting!”
Most embarrassing part of being on stage?
“I was doing a gig at Ushaka and was singing a JLO song when suddenly a bird pooed on my head. I coudn’t believe it! I just stopped singing mid-sentence. The audience realised what had happened and started laughing at me! I was not very glamorous and composed at all!”
Burlesque is still running until the 24th March at the Hillcrest Heritage Theatre.
