This striking new home seems to float above the Hawaan Forest, providing exceptional views and modern interiors with an African flavour.
Luxurious finishes, like terrazzo floors, Oggie-engineered timber wall cladding and custom-made brass taps and handles, set the tone for this three-level property. The owners were sure of the modernist style they wanted for their home and enlisted the skills of architect Paul Nel to perfect the structure.
Interior decorator Ruth Duke then stepped in to complete the look. “The linchpin of this design is the metallic theme that runs throughout the home, with brass, copper and rose gold playing with glass and light,” says Ruth. “We also used pendants like jewellery, adding interest and colour.”
Neutral colours provide the ideal base for shots of organic colour, from paprika to orange, magenta, teal and leafy greens. On a practical note, luxurious carpets were used exclusively in the private spaces, keeping shared areas low maintenance. All curtains are sheer linen with sludge-coloured block-out on a separate rail. This allows for a choice of either total darkness or soft filtered light. All cabinetry was done by Kitchen Classics.
