David Fraser, the owner of Umhlanga Pharmacy, right next door to the new Remo’s Villagio, has revamped his shop and wow has he done a great job. He has used his wife Alison’s ability to spot beautiful objects and transformed the dull space at the back of the shop into an elegant gift shop specialising in South African goodies.
The chinaware is so beautiful, candles in compressed sand holders, beautiful umbrellas, everywhere you look there are gorgeous things from bags to colouring books. It is a little piece of perfection.
The chemist continues as before, as a going concern, with all the services they have always offered, but the gifts really are worth a visit in themselves. The Umhlanga strip is going from strength to strength, which is lovely to see.
