Umthombo, the wonderful organisation which gets street children away from the robots, begging and drugs and into the sea to learn to surf is holding it’s first all Zulu surfing competititon tomorrow.
It starts at 7am at Dairy Beach, and the twenty two surfers have all come through Umthombo’s programme, triumphed over huge odds and are on their way to productive and successful lives.
The top two finalists of the competition will win R2000 and Umhthombo will hold R1900 in trust for them.
If you are feeling a bit fed up, or that things are not going as well as they might, go and have a look at these boys. As my son always says, ‘Just because you can’t help everybody, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t help someone.’ They really are an inspiration.
