House of Paint, Hillcrest has been reborn as Decor8 Vibrant Living, a creative haven inspired by the memory of Ashlea Lay
Ten years ago, Ashlea Lay bought House of Paint, Hillcrest, transforming it into a destination for homeowners seeking the solution to common painting and building mistakes, as well as expert advice on painting techniques, arts and crafts.
Known and loved for her vibrant approach to life, Ashlea was born with a passion for colour and spent hours experimenting with different paint techniques, which she later shared with decor stores and homeowners across the country, in partnership with Chemspec.
Ashlea believed that you can bring a creative vision to life and set out to create a business where every customer would feel at home while they worked on their home. Decor8 was her dream made real – a specialist paint and decor division within House of Paint, Hillcrest, which was recognised for Design Excellence at the Home Makers Expo in 2010 and was awarded Most Inspiring Exhibitor in 2011.
Since Ashlea’s death from cancer in May 2016, her step-daughter Collette has taken up the challenge of creating a store that pays tribute to this vivacious woman. “At Decor8 Vibrant Living, we declare your living space sacred and offer expert advice to bring your vision to life,” Collette says.
