Update Re: Water Crisis in uMhlanga / Durban North
The latest update from the eThekwini Municipality is that water in uMhlanga/Durban will most likely NOT cease altogether but pressure and flow will be reduced.
The pipe damaged was one of three that feeds northern Durban, with the two smaller pipes coming in from the west.These two continue to operate but at a lower carrying capacity than the main pipe.
It is therefore expected that water flow will be reduced but should NOT cease all together.
The City has appealed to businesses and residents to be use water sparingly and only where necessary. The UIP will continue to update members as it hears more from the City.
