Poor old Wayne Rooney can’t catch a break at the moment. The latest news from team Rooney is that his Manchester United bosses have sent the star striker to Nike headquarters in Beaverton, the US, to recuperate and rediscover his physical and mental powers.
Rooney, at the middle of a sex claims storm and having endured a dramatic dip in form this season, recently signed a new 250 000 pound a week deal. He’s been sent to Beaverton to get him back into the peak form that saw him net more than 40 goals last season.
Media commentators have noted wryly that sending Rooney to Beaverton may not have been the best idea: he’s bunkered up in nearby party town Portland, which boasts the highest number of strip clubs per capita of any city in the United States. Not great for a man trying to bounce back from a racy affair with an alleged high-class prostitute. – Ridge Correspondent
