June 24, 2011. It looks to be a very unspectacular day today in the 2011 Sardine Run. Head of Operations for the KZN Sharks Board, Mike Anderson-Reade, reported that conditions are rather unfavourable for netting today. A large groundswell and powerful waves bashing the shore mean it is very unlikely that there will be any sardine run netting activity at all.
“Maybe an outside chance of some netting off the Durban beachfront today, but still a long shot,” said Anderson-Reade. He said that with the exception of Durban, waves were too big to make netting possible.
