Turn your home into a winter haven with these top tips from Volpes
As the leaves start to turn and we say goodbye to summer, it’s time to cosy up to new trends and create a warm and inviting home for the cooler months. The Volpes team suggests these top tips so that you can snuggle up and hibernate in style this season.
Bring the outside in…
The landscape outside may look dreary but by incorporating flowers, plants and greenery into your winter décor you can add some cheer and joy to your space. Did you know that exposing yourself to colour early in the morning can lift your spirits and have a positive effect on your mood for the rest of the day? Faux flowers are the perfect solution for busy households, as they require little upkeep, maintenance and are also waterwise. Choose beautiful sculptural leaves for a statement or add pops of colour with orchids, hydrangeas and proteas.
Turn up the texture and brighten up your space…
A rich colour palette instantly warms up a room. Embrace the moodiness of winter by including rich jewel tones that include deep greens, warm clays, burgundy and deep mustard colours. Rattan baskets, natural wooden furniture pieces and accessories such as scatters, throws and rugs will all add texture, don’t be scared of warm winter throws and soft fur-like blankets to enhance the space.
Light the fire…
Without a doubt, a fireplace in winter becomes the heart of the home and is the perfect setting for comfort and warmth. Accentuate the mantel and make it a focal point by placing a large mirror above or add candleholders and other interesting décor accessories. Choose a plain or patterned design that will easily blend in with the style of your room. Fully lined jacquard and heavier, woven curtains are also great options for your winter windows. These plusher fabrics help to keep the cold out in winter and also protect your furniture and bedlinen from the sun, while making a style statement at the same time. For an update in your bathroom, include warmer colours such as hunters green and terracotta, to an all-neutral palette, to lift the spirits.
