Essenwood Residential Home is situated in the vicinity of the leafy Berea Park in the heart of Morningside. The beautiful building celebrated its 98th birthday this year and has seen many women pass through its doors over the years.
The home caters for all stages of the ageing process for elderly women and operates as a non-profit company in order to offer an affordable service for those who need it. Full room and board are offered, including a laundry service. Other services offered include independent living, assisted living, frail care, temporary respite care and palliative care.
There is a selection of single or shared rooms. The home has been renovated in recent years in order to provide a comfortable environment for all residents.
The home is also able to accommodate residents with dementia-related conditions. They aim to avoid an institutional feel as far as possible and prefer to have a homely ambience.
Many comforts are available to residents, such as interaction with a variety of pets, a hairdresser, a nail technician, a library, physical activities, crafts, and more.
