The Tree of Light is a special event held annually in Durban, hosted by Highway Hospice. This unique ceremony is one of the most important appeals of the year for Highway Hospice. All funds raised will go to the running costs of Highway Hospice.
This year the event will take place in Jameson Park (opposite Mitchell Park) on Friday 6 December. It starts at 6pm with Christmas music, supplied by dedicated volunteer musicians. There will be food stalls, but you are welcome to take your own picnic basket, as well as a blanket – and don’t forget your umbrella just in case it rains. There will be tents for shelter in case of rain. The lighting of the tree takes place at 7.45pm (weather permitting) when over 9 000 globes light up with a soft radiance. The tree will shine throughout December in memory of those lost too soon. If you would like to remember a loved one for this special event, you can make a donation of R60 per globe. Corporate donors are invited to sponsor the star on the top of the tree for R10 000 as a shining symbol of your love, care and concern for the community. Corporate globes are also available at R300. Join Highway Hospice for a touching and memorable evening.
