There’s nothing better to do on a winter’s day in Durban than pop sneakily into the Jaipur Palace in Durban North and have the lunchtime buffet. This huge restaurant, which can seat 250 people, offers a choice of curries and biryanis which would make a grown man cry. Yesterday for example, crab curry, broad bean curry, prawn curry, dahl, vegetable biryani, trotters curry, as well as starters, rices, poppadums, puddings and two soft drinks all for R100. Half price for the kids. Or if spice is not your thing, they always include roasts and vegetables as well as ice cream.
It’s the best value in Durban, with a view of the ocean. Give it a try, you’ll be amazed…and won’t need to eat for a couple of days! Jaipur Palace, 031 563 0287
