Good news for the Currie Cup final: Sunny weather predicted, about 27C.
Thirteen Sharks players have previous Currie Cup final experience against only four of the Province squad of 22.
Kick-off at 5.30pm. Ref is Craig Joubert, who went to school at Maritzburg College and then the University of Natal, where he studied business finance. Does that mean advantage Sharks? Joubert is an international Test rugby referee who refereed the Vodacom Super 14 final between the Vodacom Bulls and the Vodacom Stormers at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto earlier this year.
According to SA Rugby’s website, Jannie du Plessis will be the most experienced Sharks player in terms of finals played (2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008). Stefan Terblanche, who is the only survivor of the 2000 and 2001 finals, will be playing in his fourth Absa Currie Cup Final. He played centre in 2000, left-wing in 2001 and fullback for the Durban side during the 2008 final against the Vodacom Blue Bulls.
