It’s not a sin to love chocolate!
Did you know that cacao and cocoa is made from the same bean but is very different? Raw cacao (pronounced ka-cow) is made by cold-pressing unroasted cacao beans. This process keeps the living enzymes and removes the fat (cacao butter). Whilst cocoa is raw cacao that is roasted at high temperatures thus changing the molecular structure of the cacao bean, reducing the enzyme content and lowering the overall nutritional value. Raw cacao is a great source of antioxidants and an amazing mood enhancer. It also contains nutrients such as magnesium, iron and flavonoids.
Patricia is a mum to two little darlings and is the new owner of Cacao Chocolate Bar in Gateway. Her background is in corporate finance and risk management but it has always been her dream to own a coffee shop one day… and that day has come!
“I am so excited about this new journey. I must admit it has not been an easy couple of months, but I am enjoying the experience. We launched our new menu in December 2018, and the response has been phenomenal. We added more savoury options (for those that don’t have a sweet tooth), such as open sandwiches, pizzas, savoury crepes and savoury waffles, as well as a vegetarian option are available. Don’t forget our signature chocolate brownies, waffles and chocolate milkshake are still on our menu. We are also now Halaal certified. So why not pop by sometime for a tasty treat?” says Patricia.
