Comrades day road closures

The Comrades Marathon is coming to a road near you on Sunday.

Anybody travelling between Durban and Pietermaritzburg is likely to come up against a closed road or a forced detour at some point during the day.

Here’s the list of road closure times on Sunday May 29th:

  • Dr Pixley KaSeme (West Street) – between Dorothy Nyembe (Gardiner Street) & Samora Machel Street (Aliwal Street): Closed from 5pm Saturday until 7am Sunday
  • Samora Machel Street (Aliwal Street) between Monty Naicker (Pine Street) & Anton Lembede (Smith Street): Closed from midnight Saturday until 7am Sunday
  • 45th Cutting: Closed on Sunday from 4am to 7.30 am
  • Cowies Hill: Closed from 4.30 am to 8.30 am
  • Pinetown and Fields Hill: Closed from 4.45 am to 9.15 am
  • Kloof: Closed from 5 am to 10 am
  • Hillcrest: Closed from 5.30 am to 11 am
  • Botha’s Hill: Closed from 5.40 am to 11.30 am
  • Drummond: Closed from 6 am to 12.30 pm
  • Cato Ridge: Closed from 7 am to 2pm
  • Camperdown: Closed from 7.30 am to 2.30 pm
  • Umlaas Road: Closed from 8 am to 3.55 pm
  • Lion Park: Closed from 9 am to 4 pm
  • Ashburton: Closed from 9 am to 5 pm
  • Polly Shortts: Closed from 9 am to 6 pm
  • CB Downes, Washington, Oribi & Jesmond Roads: Closed from 9 am to 6.30 pm
