February 9, 2011: According to the eThekwini Municipality the recent outages affect Newlands and Durban North and are not as a result of load shedding but “cable fault”.
Areas affected definitely include Newlands, Durban North, Sunningdale and Riverhorse Valley. Office workers, in particular, have been battling to cope with the intense humidity.
The eThekwini Municipality customer care line has been experiencing serious traffic.

Yes! Every day this week we have had a power outage of at least 1-2 hours. Fortunately we have a generator, but obviously it can’t run the whole building’s air con system as well, so we have had a rather warm and stuffy start to each day. Here’s hoping the municipality can sort out this “cable fault” SOON!
