February 9, 2011. Police closed off Musgrave Road between Silverton and Berea roads on Durban’s Berea this morning (Wednesday, February 9) after a shooting in which a metered taxi driver and what police believe was a passenger were killed. The incident happened at about 5am this morning.
Lt Col Vincent Mdunge said police believe an altercation occurred between driver and passenger, who was sitting on the back seat. It’s believed the passenger shot the driver after which the vehicle spun out of control and slammed into the side of the road. Apparently the passenger then shot himself. A handgun was found on the back seat of the vehicle.
Mdunge said police wished to dispel rumours that a cash-in-heist incident had taken place in the area.
When the Ridge arrived at the scene Metro Police officers were diverting traffic towards Currie Road. Metro officers, SAPS and emergency officers were attending the scene.

I pulled out my driveway straight into the traffic! Took me 22 minutes to get from outside Mugg and Bean into Poval Road – about 100m!
