Exhibition at Imbizo Gallery

By The Ridge Magazine11/06/20122 Mins Read
Imbizo Gallery Life Force Exhibition

There is an absorbing mix of sculpture and art coming to Ballito this week.

Isabel Roos, curator and owner of Imbizo Gallery, has gathered together seven specific artists for an intriguing joint exhibition.

A rather fresh take on this shared exhibition is that Isabel has concentrated on inviting sculptors, as opposed to painters, for a showing of seven vastly different styles and skills.

Artists who will be exhibiting include Marke Meyer, Izidro Duarte, Carl Roberts, Anton Smit, Carol Hayward Fell, Wendy von Varendorff and Sarah Richards.

Marke Meyer, sculptor & photographer

The theme of the exhibition is “Life Force”which, according to Isabel, is strongly evident in all the works. “What is so interesting to me is that all the pieces the seven artists have submitted have a deep kind of strength, dignity and spirit to live, move and survive. There is an incredible force and survival mode in all of us and it is interesting to see the artists take on this theme.”

Some of the sculptors, along with their three dimensional works, will also be showing photography, silk screens and paintings.

The exhibition will be opened by well known personality and artist John Smith at Imbizo Gallery in the Ballito Life Style Centre on Thursday 14 June at 18h30.

Everyone is welcome to come along to the exhibition, enjoy a glass of wine and chat to the artists..

The exhibition will then be open daily until 31 July 2012.
