Fun for The Whole Family at the East Coast Radio House & Garden Show

By Mums Mail Magazine18/06/20183 Mins Read

As parents, there’s always the dilemma of what to do with the kids when attending big events, but finally, there is a show that is setting the trend of what a real family outing entails. Forget leaving the kids with the babysitter, the 2018 East Coast Radio House & Garden Show, taking place from 29 June to 8 July at the Durban Exhibition Centre, is bringing new meaning to the term “fun for the whole family” with an exciting line-up of activities for the kids and parents alike.

Conveniently taking place during the school holidays, East Coast Radio House & Garden Show promises 10 days of dedicated activities for all children of all ages to enjoy.

Get them thinking differently about their greens with help from the Fry’s Free Ranger Superheroes as they present a Superfood for Super Kids cooking demonstration in the Discover Durban Cuisine Kitchen each day, focusing on the benefits of plant-based eating.

Help them gain their independence by inspiring them to make their own lunches in the Defy Junior Chef Zone; providing plenty of creative cooking fun by teaching them to make nutritious meals with small Defy appliances in interactive demonstrations.

While you get your creative juices flowing with décor and design inspiration and tantalise your taste buds with demonstrations and food, you can look forward to a well-deserved break and peace-of-mind with the Melissa & Doug Play Space. Not only will this area include dedicated child-minders, but it will also be abundant with the interactive, well-known toys, games and learning activities from Melissa & Doug.

Teach them the importance of recycling, upcycling and saving the planet with The Magic Bean Foundation, an initiative aimed at spreading awareness of our waste through craft activities. Don’t miss these Magic Makers workshops Saturdays and Sundays within the Melissa & Doug Play Space.

Turn their bedrooms into that magical place they dream of, find workable solutions to decluttering family spaces and find timeless pieces that will grow with them in The Edit, with well-respected designer and blogger Genevieve Motley, founder of inspirational kid’s décor and handmade toys online store, Olly Polly.

Teens, and perhaps a few dads, won’t want to miss Geekville and the Durban Gaming Expo – a first for KZN. Popping up from 5 to 7 July at the East Coast Radio House & Garden Show, gamers and comic fans young and old can look forward to the ultimate action-packed experience including a 100-man LAN gaming setup, competitions, exciting prizes, themed apparel and merchandise, cosplay competitions, flash mobs, card games, and much more.

Bring the children along to learn, have fun and meet new friends while you ponder renovating, decorating and gardening inspiration to ensure your home captures the theme, ‘Home is Where the Heart is’.

Tickets to the East Coast Radio House & Garden Show, taking place from 29 June to 8 July at the Durban Exhibition Centre, are available online from iTickets. Children under 12 are free.
