The property at 29a Anthony in Gillitts continues to be an eyesore and a problem for the local community and neighbours, something that was first brought to the attention of the building inspectors by DA Ward Councillor Rick Crouch on 12 June.
“I was driving past and noticed this incomplete construction and immediately notified the building inspectors, they responded to me on 18 June 2013 that a 90 day notice had been issued to the property owner,” said Crouch.
“Since then there has been no follow-up by them and the property is in virtually the same condition that it was in back then. It should not be mine or local residents’ responsibility to again contact building inspectors 5 months later and prompt them to follow-up.”
The DA Ward Councillor went on to say that the building instructors should have a schedule of follow-ups needed on these properties, of which there are many in Ward 10, and that he has received numerous complaints from residents regarding this particular building.
“There is a lack of communication in this municipality, there is no follow up and there is no report back to the complainant from the relevant department. They really need to work on this,” said Councillor Rick Crouch.
