The new IMAX theatre at Ster-Kinekor Gateway launched on Thursday 7 November with a preview of the much-anticipated Marvel sequel, Thor: The Dark World.
More than 370 guests attended the launch and seemed to unanimously agree that “you have to see it to believe it”.
The opening of the impressive new theatre is the next progressive step in the Ster-Kinekor journey, as it continues to bring its audiences ‘Great Moments at their Greatest’.
The IMAX is the world’s most immersive cinematic experience – allowing audiences to enjoy the biggest blockbusters as never seen before.
IMAX’s cutting-edge projection system, which delivers crystal-clear images, coupled with the customised theatre design and powerful digital sound system, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as though they are in the movie.

2014 will see the release of more than 25 full-length feature films at the IMAX and big titles such as Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Ender’s Game and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug set to be shown before the end of this year.
Hunger Games: Catching Fire will have a midnight screening on the morning of Thursday 21 November, with Ender’s Game due to release on 6 December and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug to come out on 13 December, all at the new IMAX theatre at Gateway.

IMAX is great but it is not 3D.
If you want to exoperience the true entertainment of these new movies you need to watch it in 3D.
