The best way to spend your energy now, no matter where you live in our large and beautiful country, is to create your own personal ‘Dream Board’ for 2016.
• Drive around the neighbourhood and take pictures of plants that are growing successfully in other gardens.
• Take a leisurely stroll through your local nurseries and compile a future shopping list of plants you fall in love with.
• Page through all your old gardening magazines to get ideas and pick the look you want to achieve. Cut the pictures out.
Take a large poster board and paste all your dreams, ideas and pictures onto it. Add new brain waves and information every day. With positive thinking and good planning, you will achieve the garden of your dreams (even if it is only a little herb garden in pots).
Also consider using the following in your garden this month:
Pest Control:
• Complete – Protect ornamental plants from scale and aphids for the rest of the season.
• Tenazole – Treat brown patch and dollar spot on lawns after the rain.
• Versus/Pure Lawn – Get rid of unwanted broad-leave weeds on the lawn.
Fertiliser:
• Flower Power – An organic-based fertiliser to enhance the flowering of roses and other flowering shrubs.
• Gaunoflo – Puts back all the macro- and micro-elements your plants need after the rain.
