Liza Clifford of Liza Clifford Professional Bra Fitting Studio recently donated R10 000’s worth of school uniforms to children in Umlazi.
These are children, identified by Gugu Buthelezi from the Highway Hospice, who have a parent with a terminal illness or lost a parent or both parents to cancer or HIV/AIDS.
Liza says she now has two reasons for selling beautiful, perfectly fitted bras: “To make women feel amazing and because the more bras that I sell, the more funds I will have available to buy uniforms and other requirements for children in need.”
Liza is also an avid supporter of the Highway Hospice Ithemba Project, which empowers 37 patients residing in Inanda, Chesterville and Umlazi who have been assisted by ARVs and chemotherapy and have returned to their homes. These people wish to provide for their families but are unable to find employment opportunities.
“I collect second-hand bras or ‘confiscate’ bad fitting bras from my clients, and the Highway Hospice divides them into packets and sells them to the 37 people whom they support, for R30. They, in turn, sell the individual bras and make money to feed their families,” explains Liza.
