Controversy has hit Idols again with allegations of rigging or political interference in the choice of the final three contenders.
There was joy for Durban’s favourite Lloyd Cele, a graphic designer and pastor with a big heart and bigger stage presence, who was voted into the final 3. Lloyd seems to be a good bet for overall victory and has a sound following of committed fans.
Weird people spend a fortune on Idols
A man with many fans, Boki was booted off the show, sparking a host of calls to local radio East Coast Radio, in which listeners expressed their disappointment with the results.
Sindi Nene was identified by many as the weakest contender.
Comment from the DStv Idols site regarding Boki’s performance in the contest: “The 21-year-old from Johannesburg consistently had audiences on their feet at the live Idols Spectaculars at the Mosaïek Theatro, he had never been mentioned in the radio polls and he had never been in the Bottom Three. But in the Top 4 Spectacular this week the judges thought that the songs he performed were badly suited to his talents, and he garnered the fewest votes this week from the fans.”

I always say to myself that I’m never going to watch Idols! And every time the programme airs, my eyes are GLUED!
What a disappointment…this competition is definitely rigged! The judges clearly want Sindi to win, even though SA thinks she’s horrendous! Her pronunciation is TERRIBLE, she lacks any soul when it comes to anything else other than those high notes which she belts out like a dying cat. Yes she can hit them, but please, that’s not all that makes a song good!

Listening to the radio it seems there are some people who are very disillusioned about the Idols voting system.
I’m disappointed to have seen Boki go, but must admit that all three finalists belted out fabulous performances on Sunday! I also thought Sindi was the ‘weakest link’ but since she’s been saved by the judges she’s definetely upped her game and think her Brenda Fassie performance was great! I would say Lloyd’s got this one in the bag by the sound of his support, and he’s shows huge dedication to this competition!
