Durban North’s John Steenhuisen has resigned from the position of provincial DA leader and has made the way for former deputy leader Sizwe Mchunu.
Steenhuisen has requested that the reasons for his sudden resignation remain private and has pledged his full support to Mchunu, who is listed on the DA website this morning as DA Provincial Leader for KZN.
Steenhuisen is expected to remain a member of the Provincial Legislature.
He represented Durban North on the Durban City Council for 10 years before being elected to the KZN legislature.
Steenhuisen is a Durban North man through and through. He was born in Durban and attended school in Durban North, first at Chelsea drive and then at Northwood school where he matriculated in 1993. He was first selected to serve on the City Council aged 22.
