Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg is a multidisciplinary hospital that serves the community of Pietermaritzburg and the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, and is superbly equipped with the latest technology. As part of the Mediclinic strategy to focus on patient safety as one of their core values, a decision was made to develop a maternity product with the main focus on obstetric risk management that would improve clinical outcomes. The Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg Maternity and Obstetrics Ward has professional and dedicated staff and is equipped with 17 beds in the maternity ward and houses 17 ‘beds’ for newborn babies. There are also three delivery rooms that are utilised for natural births.
