Bottles and diapers, blankets and booties ,
Engrossed in the concept of motherly duties.
Nursery rhymes on my lips with linger in the hallway ,
Rocking baby to sleep after my workday
Holding your little hand in mine as we sleep ,
Shortly you’d wake up but hopefully not to weep.
The daily nurture becoming a welcomed routine ,
Although it’s much more overwhelming than I’d ever forseen.
A slight cough and blocked nose that I notice in baby ,
Fills my heart with inexplicable worry.
I feel your growth in the weight of my arms ,
Each moment with you I savour ,my heart it warms.
The soft sounds you make are music to my ears ,
A bond like this I’d treasure for years .
The glee in your eyes when its playtime with your daddy ,
All his features which you carry so gracefully.
I truly see it as a blessing from above ,
To have the chance to be a parent and be surrounded by love
