July 4, 2011. Sardine Run 2011 report. The KZN Shark’s Board’s Mike Anderson-Reade said overcast and grey conditions made spotting sardines rather difficult today, but there had been netting in Pennington, while two pockets of sardines had even popped up off Salt Rock.
Those hardy contestants in the Mr Price Pro Ballito had better beware, with the fish lurking in the general area, although I seriously doubt sardines will keep these madmen out the water. Just ask Scottburgh surfer Casey Grant!
Conditions along the coast saw a light northerly wind and a swell size generall of 1m going up to 2m, while heavier swell was reported at Ballito for the Mr Price Pro 2011 .
“This move northward was to be expected after the south westerly winds over the weekend. The current conditions with the large swells are not good for netters at present, as it is very difficult for them to launch their boats,” said Anderson-Reade.

The Mr Price Pro has been blessed with mouth-watering surf in the opening stages of the contest. Pumping barrels for start of Mr Price Pro.
