Yes, it’s almost Umhlanga Festival time! As the weather warms up little by little, work behind the scenes is increasing in intensity. Beach games, Christmas events, beauty parades and sporting challenges all form part of the 2017 festivities. So, get out the suntan lotion, dust off your running shoes and put in some shower-singing practise – it’s Umhlanga Festival time 14 to 23 December 2017!
Already in the diary is the Umhlanga Trail Run on 17 December 2017. The event takes place this year at Sibaya Casino and features a nature trail through sugar cane and forest, with beautiful views and routes for most ages and abilities.
Go to www.roag.co.za to enter now for the 6km, 12km and 18km. Christmas-themed dress-up prizes will be awarded for the 6km entrants – such fun to be had!
Of course, there’s also the Miss Umhlanga competition with final judging taking place on 16 December on the Millennium Stage, Umhlanga Main Beach. Registration is at 10.30am on the day and entry fee is a children’s gift for charity. Don’t miss out!
And, as usual, we have the ever-popular Carols by Candlelight at Granada Square. This charity event, booked for 20 December is a chance for people of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities to sing old favourites and donate unwrapped gifts to charity. Rotary will be on hand to collect the gifts and donate to the needy in our community.
Apart from these stand-out occasions holidaymakers can look forward to fun in the sun at Umhlanga Main Beach, every day from 10am to 2pm.
