Local linen specialists, Volpes, has just unveiled their latest Washed Cotton Collection. Unlike the stiff ‘no give’ feeling that some linen provides, the best part about this luxurious fabric is the lived-in-feel that it imparts.
The premium finish is obtained by pre-washing (or stone washing), which both softens the fabric and gives it a casual appeal. To achieve this soft feel, bed linen is washed together with both natural and man-made stones to produce a worn-out appearance to a newly manufactured fabric. The result is a slightly faded fabric colour with a vintage feel.
“Taking care of your washed bedlinen is no different to any other linen or home textile,” explains Linen Specialist at Volpes, Estel Grobler. This bed linen can be machine-washed, line dried or tumble-dried on a low heat, as washed cotton bed linen has a distinctive shabby chic look that comes from its soft texture and light crumples. “For this reason, our laundered cotton bed linen looks and feels great without ironing – natural crumples only add to the beauty and comfort,” she says.
The fabric offers value-for-money and longevity, as the muted colour palette will last through all the seasons.
